History

• Founded by Karyn E. Vostok in Chicago, IL in October 2007
• As of May 2009, About Face International operations are taking place in Boston, Ma with two active Chapter Boards operating in Chicago and Boston.

Philosophy

• Founded on the premise that the most effective way to positively change the world is to empower youth and adults alike by creating an accessible medium where the public can discuss national and worldly issues in addition to supporting, cultivating, and mentoring social entrepreneurship efforts amongst the youth so they can make a real long-term difference in the world that is both substainable and replicable, nationally and globally.

Origin of Name

• About Face International was named after the United States military term “about face” which means a complete, sudden change in position, direction, principle, and attitude. About Face International embraces positive paradigm shifts through means of discussion rather than by force.

• About Face International is currently seeking and funding youth fellow social entrepreneurs in the Americas, Middle East, Africa, and India.
